The Red Wagon and a walk in the Park

We headed out on a beautiful Saturday morning with a warm sunny forecast with the rest of the day to be spent at Stanley Park. For the first time, we went to an eatery called "The Red Wagon Cafe" that had been featured on the TV show "Diners, drive-ins and dives" on the Food Network. It's one of these one off eateries that can be found all over Vancouver, with this one located in the east-side of the city on east Hastings St. We've been wanting to eat here for the last couple of years but had not been able to because there is always a long line up. So we went early, got there around 10am, and only waited for 15 minutes. Lots of traditional and quirky items on the menu such as the crispy pork belly breakfast that I had, while J had the salmon eggs-benedict. As you can see, the food not only looks good but it sure was great tasting. The pork belly is deep fried crispy on the outside and tender inside. Nothing beats a hearty breakfast on a beautiful weekend morning. A must-go for something out of the ordinary.

While J went walking about downtown, I went to my favourite place for a long walk at Stanley Park. It takes me about three hours to walk along the sea wall while taking time to take photos. I went west this time so the scenery (and photos) are different from the others I've posted this spring. Summer time brings throngs of tourists to this gem. The park is big enough though that it never feels crowded, and there's always parking to be found. We truly are blessed to have this clean, spacious, and beautiful park right on the edge of downtown. Walking west brings one to the edge of the park jutting out to the Pacific ocean. Have a look at the photos and imagine yourself along with the multitudes who've come from around the world to soak in the warm air, sound of the ocean, and be amazed that a city has such a place. Next time, I'll have to visit the Aquarium inside the park, too. Lovely, lovely, indeed!
