Nothing signifies the start of Canadian west-coast summer than beautiful dry weather (26C), bbq, and village car shows. Today, a local annual car show was held in the small city of Chilliwack, about 100 km (1.5hr drive) from Vancouver. Chilliwack is a beautiful city east of Vancouver surrounded by mountain valleys, farm land and parks. The show itself was held in the small city centre with several blocks allowed for the display of 250 muscle, vintage, and hot rods. Every weekend from late spring to early fall, there's a car show somewhere around these parts. They're always free to the public but sometimes participants pay a small fee. Prizes are given for best cars, while music plays, and food trucks abound (this is Canadian "street food"). These events are also held as fund raisers for good causes. This is a typical event on weekends and I suspect, it's likely the same around North America. The love of cars is ingrained in the culture, and a relaxing time is had by all. I take the opportunity to take photos of some of the amazing cars on display as often as I can, normally taking around 3 to 4 hours doing so. Since today was such a beautiful day, a lovely way to end it was to grill a steak, and enjoy dinner out in the back yard together. All just feels right in the world on such lovely days. With summer finally rolling, there'll be many more such events every weekend to enjoy a nice drive to. Enjoy the photos of cars (and steak) and scenery of beautiful Chilliwack, BC!
