One thing we're never short of in this region of Canada is nature. We are surrounded by mountains, forests, oceans, lakes and rivers. Living here means experiencing all that mother nature has to offer. With a warm 21c today, we set out in the morning for a hike to Lindeman Lake inside Chiliwack Lake Provincial Park. The park is about 90km from our home. When we got there, we parked by the side of the road to find others have had an early start. The hike to Lindeman Lake wasn't a long one but it could be rocky in some spots. Because the trail isn't that long, there were more people passed along the way than at Golden Ears. The lake itself isn't very big but the water is a beautiful turquoise and as expected, very cold. Because of its size, it actually felt cramped with other people in the well-beaten parts of it. Getting to the lake sides where there would be less people meant having to get off the trail which we didn't want to do. This isn't an easy walk in the park but one would have to go through bushes and boulders along the edge of the lake to find a quiet spot. Nature lovers can camp, fish, swim (if you're ok with almost freezing temperature) but watch out for bears, too. We stayed for a couple of hours, found a shady log to have our lunch and proceeded to hike down for home. These spots cannot be accessed by car, so no bus loads of tourists. As long as one is prepared to walk, climb, and taking the time to be careful, the reward is always worth it. It is what Canadian nature is all about, and everyone's welcome. I collected rocks along the side of the road for our yard, too (who wants to pay for rocks?....not me).
