Hiking in Golden Ears Provincial Park

There's a huge mountainous park with plenty of trails, camp grounds, picnic areas, lakes that's about one hour from where we live that is Golden Ears Provincial Park in Maple Ridge. The trails could be as easy as a "walk in the park" or could be steeply challenging. We hiked for about four hours in trails surrounded by dense and very tall trees punctuated by small streams, falls and other hikers. The air was warm, the streams were crystal clean and very cold. We've never been to this part of the park, and after four hours, it could have only built up my stamina. This park gives a small taste of what Canadian wilderness beauty is about, but which is still not too far from urban centres. I wouldn't want to get lost in these woods nevertheless! There are no paved trails, no amenities, lights, basically you're on your own until the next hikers find you! We didn't hike to the summit for the spectacular view as it is apparently a 6 hour hike, one way, as it progressively gets more steep and rocky. We'll leave such hike for other more experienced people as one can easily get lost or hurt in a place like this.
